Camping with roof top tent

Installation of AutoHome
Overland Models

Place the roofbars on the vehicle.  Minimum distance between bars "D" is at least 30 inches (77cm).  Make sure the connections are secure.

At the vehicles side.  Lift the tent and place on the roofbars "C".  Position it where you want.

Each OverCamp comes with eight attachment plates and either "U" or carriage bolts.

Insert 4 attachment plates with their bolts (fig 3a) in the guides attached under the base

Slide the attachment plates until the reach the roofbars "C".

Lift the edge of the tent an slide the attachment plate over the roofbar "C".  Do this to all sides.

Fit the lower attachment plates around the roofbar and tighten the nuts with lockwashers.  Take a short drive and check the bolts and rack for proper tightness.

Place the ladder on top of the tent with the attachment rings facing down.  Insert the attachment pin "P" in the rings of the tent and ladder.  Go around to the other side of the vehicle and pull the ladder down and then out and place on the ground at a 30 degree angle.

Adjust the height of the ladder (by insert the locking pins), inclining it to an angle of approximately 30 degrees, so that both halves of the tent's base are in alignment.  Check the hinge "G" along the length to make sure it the base is seated well.

CAUTION: The double-up position is advised ONLY for trailers or pick-up trucks with appropriate rack systems and load ratings. The load rating should be based on the rack manufacturer’s maximum dynamic load rating.

In the double up or cantilever positions, the ladder needs to be placed on solid ground.  On a slippery surface it can slip outward and damage the hinging system.  We recommend the ladder be placed at a 30 degree inclination.  If you combine two OverCamp, the length of the roofbars "L" need to be at least 142 cm or 56 inches (Small+Small), 160 cm or 63 inches (Small+Medium) and 160 cm or 63 inches (Medium+Medium).

Climb up inside the tent and raise the three hoops.  Lift up on the posts, press the spring button, you will hear a click when it gets to the next hole.  Lower the posts before closing.

Both triangular windows open and close from the inside.  We recommend you pull the cord carefully so you don't tear the fabric near the studs.

Close the roof tent and remove the ladder.  Carefully layer the fabric toward the middle under the hoops (fig 12a).  Lift up the fabric at the edge of the base (fig 12b) and place the ladder over the tent, extending it over the surface (fig 12c).  Complete by covering with the fitted travel cover and attaching the elastic cord to the hooks in the base.  If the cover is too loose, adjust the elastic cord (fig 12d).

Caution:  Any weight placed on the roof can change the way a car handles.  Please reduce speed according to driving conditions.  Drive safely.
