The ’98 and later Passport models are rated at 165 lbs.—with or without factory racks, but the ’97 and earlier Passports with factory racks are rated at only 110 lbs. In this case, a lighter tent (small Columbus) can be fitted, or upgrade to a stouter Thule or Yakima system fitted that anchors to the roof. We have even outfitted the Element with an AutoHome tent— cool looking and functional.
